Applications:(S)-5-Hexanolide is the (S)-enatiomer of the 5-Hexanolide. (S)-5-Hexanolide is less common than the (R)-enantiomer, which is the preferably occuring genuine lactone found in dairy products. (S)-5-Hexanolide is used in the preparation of biologically active compounds such as pheromones.
