Applications:Cerium(IV) trifluoromethanesulfonate, is used as a strong oxidizing agent, in the oxidation of benzyl alcohols and alkylbenzenes to aryl aldehydes and aryl ketones respectively. It can slo be used as a catalyst for high-yield deprotection of tert-butyldimethylsilyl ethers.
